There are generally three types of plants that one can add to a bowl or aquarium. Aquatic, plants that live completely under water and will eventually dry out and die unless kept submersed. Marginal, grow both in and out of water, many of which need to be kept very moist if out of water. Terrestrial, plants that mainly grow on land. This would seem an unlikely candidate for an aquarium plant but since many of this plants can be propagated by putting a cut segment in water to allow their roots to grow, their addition to the selection makes perfect sense.
